Job Description:
Job OverviewPharmacy Purchaser is responsible for managing the pharmacy P2P process, including sourcing medications and other pharmacy products through appropriate channels, tracking drug inventory levels, managing the validation and processing of invoices, identifying and executing departmental cost savings opportunities, and collaborating with site level and Enterprise leadership.
Purchaser is responsible for maintaining DSCSA compliance and working with third parties to capture and store T3 information in accordance with federal law.
Collaboration with Directors of Pharmacy, Clinical Coordinators, and Corporate Pharmacy Team is essential to ensure best inventory operations are implemented consistently at their hospital location.
Responsibilities to include:
Ordering products and supplies through authorized vendors according to departmental directives and contractual agreements.
Responsible for the planning, coordination, improvement, and successful execution of all activities related to the pharmacy inventory Maintains relationships with outside vendors and wholesalers while properly representing COH's mission and vision.
Verifying, reconciling, tagging, and stocking products upon arrival.
Coordinates with other departments and disciplines within the hospital to maximize pharmacy representation related to drug inventory.
Working with IS to add new products into electronic health record and dispensing systems.
Managing decentralized inventory in automated dispensing cabinets or other inventory management systems.
Review of inventory to include monitoring of expiration dating, processing of returns, and maintaining par levels.
Managing expired medications and oversee the reverse distribution process.
Collaborating with Finance for all pharmacy invoices, purchase orders, and monthly inventory counts.
Handling drug recalls including documenting the event, quarantine the affected lots, and return the product.
Working with the PAP Team to ensure free drug gets to patients.
Working closely with manufacturers, Director of Pharmacy, and the corporate pharmacy team to manage shortages.
Coordinating the order and shipment of product for white bagging treatments and relays necessary information to other teams involved.
Reporting issues to manufacturers and requesting product replacement or reimbursement for faulty medications.

EDUCATION/
Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (e.
g.
GED certification) required.
Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy purchasing experience required.
Minimum 3 years pharmacy experience with 1 year hospital pharmacy experience required.
Oncology pharmacy experience preferred.
Current Georgia Pharmacy Technician License required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Background in oncology pharmacy preferred.
Experience with EMRs and/or hospital computer systems.
Familiar with pharmacy technology.
Experience with drug management protocols and initiatives preferred.
Familiarity with the federal Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).
Demonstrated knowledge of patient safety goals relevant to the work environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of hospital variance reporting system and appropriate management procedures for unexpected occurrences.
Critical thinking and confidence in decision-making abilities are required.
Strong communication skills necessary, both written and verbal.
Promotes teamwork, nurtures relationships with others and is viewed positively by co-workers.
Supports the goals of the department.
Participates in department performance improvement.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Pay Range $20.
35 - $33.
52Placement within the identified pay range is based on individual and market factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, credentials (including licenses and certifications), geographic location, market competition, skill set (including market availability of required skills), assigned/anticipated job tasks, and level of responsibility.
