Job Description:
Security officer is responsible for keeping all students, staff and visitors safe, protecting school and church property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
Security officer also directs traffic during arrival and dismissal periods to ensure student safety and efficient traffic flow.
JOB DUTY
Summary:
Patrols per schedule and as needed, buildings and grounds of school/church campus Examines doors and windows to determine that they are secure Monitors school premises via surveillance cameras Checks for and reports all irregularities such as fire hazards, obvious maintenance issues, and doors left unlocked to Security Supervisor Directs traffic during arrival and dismissal periods Assists with deliveries when needed Ensures that building is secured following all after hours school functions such as athletic events and programs Records information regarding property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment on security report for communication to Security Supervisor Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons Assists with fire, severe weather and lockdown drills Monitors weather conditions and notifies administrators when severe weather conditions are expected Implements lock-down procedures when necessary
Qualifications:
High school diploma recommended.
Past experience in security, law enforcement or military preferred.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to represent the school positively to students, parents and to the community.
